Poem: Man

he wanted to be
an action movie,
but she wouldn’t
be his camera crew.
 
he wanted to be a football team
and shine in the super bowl,
but she wouldn’t
be his stadium.
 
he wanted to be a power saw,
made of steel,
but she wouldn’t
be his wood.
 
he wanted to be
loved,
but she wasn’t
up to the challenge.
 
he needed her,
but she needed to
be a book,
so he tore out her
pages,
and threw them away.
