Book Review: The Old Willis Place (Mary Downing Hahn)

by Kelsie

The Old Willis Place is a wonderful book. It is a story about two children (Georgie and Diana) who live in a shack by themselves at the edge of a property containing an old, out-of-use mansion. The owner of the house has died leaving nobody in charge. All of the caretakers have left due to obnoxious noises and disappearing items. Then, new people move in, and for the first time in forever, Diana is tempted to "Break the Rules".

Many rules bear them not to leave the property of the mansion, but nobody ever really told them the rules, they just appeared to help keep the children safe. But nothing really seems to be the same since "the terrible thing happened". What is the terrible thing? Who are these mysterious children? If you are dying to know, read this awesome book!

An interesting fact--the author currently lives in Columbia, Maryland!

Hey I'm Katelin. Do you know who did the cover art? If so, was it just out of the imagination or was it a real person? Okay, Keep reading.
Two years ago, in the first week of seventh grade, one of my sixth grade teachers called me down to tell me that she was reading "The Old Willis Place" and that the girl on the cover looked exactly like me! She did, I totally agree! Two years later, I look very different now but it still amazes me! The crazy thing is that you said the author lives in Columbia, MD. Well, i live in Frederick, MD.
like my twin in the world lol.
so, i checked out the book but i never finished it.
