Book Review: A Series of Unfortunate Events (Lemony Snicket)

by Kelsie

If you think that the movie is great, you should read the books. I have never watched the movie, but I heard it was great. There are 11 books out so far, but there is a rumor going around that he is writing a total of 13, (an unlucky number).

The books are about the three Baudelair children, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny, whom have had the misfortune of becoming orphans through one single fire that killed both of their parents. The parents were very rich, and when they perished, the left the entire fortune in the hands of Mr. Poe, a very high-class banker, to keep watch over it until Violet came of age. They were then sent away to live with one of their distant relatives, Count Olaf, a professional actor who spent much of his time rehearing with the acting troupe.

Count Olaf spends much of his time scheming up evil plots to get his hands on the baudelair fortune. In the end, he always manages to slip away, but many people are beginning to not accept the Baudelairs, because they don't want misfortune to end up on their doorsteps.

All 11 that I've read are excellent, and I highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys mystery tied in with murder, misfortune, and misunderstandings.
